Buttercream Frosting

This buttercream frosting is a family favorite and works well with just about any cake. This covers one regular size cake from a box mix or 24 cupcakes. Who doesn't love cupcakes?


Buttercream Frosting


1 c. unsalted butter, softened

4 tsp. vanilla extract

5 c. confectioners' sugar

3 Tbsp. whole milk


1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter until smooth and then beat in vanilla. 

2. Slowly beat in the confectioners' sugar (about 1/2 cup at a time). Continue to beat until smooth.

3. Gradually add the milk and beat until desired consistency.


Apron Strings Note: If you add a few drops of food coloring, do it at the end of step 2. You may not need all of the milk in step 3.
