Gourmet Chocolate Frosting

Chocolate. Chocolate. Chocolate. Sometimes the frosting is simply more important that the cakey goodness underneath. This recipe will cover one regular size box cake mix or 24 cupcakes.

Gourmet Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients:

1/2 c. salted butter, softened

1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 tsp. salt

3 c. confectioners' sugar

1/4 c. whole milk

Directions:

1. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.

2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter, cocoa powder, melted chocolate chips and salt. Once it is smooth, beat in vanilla extract.

3. Add confectioners' sugar gradually (about 1/2 cup at a time) and beat until smooth.

4. Gradually add milk and continue to beat until desired consistency is reached.

Apron Strings Note: This recipe is salty-sweet combo but you can skip the added salt if desired.
